question for other back surgery patients

my last back surgery was January 2009 for a L-5 S1 fusion, over the lat three days I have had an excruciating pain in my left groin area where I actually hear and feel a pop when getting up also it feels like a constant charlie horse in my calf, I cannot weight bare on this leg at all or stand on my tippie toes I can"t see my Dr tull Tuesday and was wondering in anyone else has had similar symptoms or anyone know what may be causing this?

i am 47 years old in sept of 08 i had a spinal fusion on l4 l5 a week later i could tell something was not right went to get stiches out and told doc bout the way i was feeling all the pain i didnt have before i had sugery. i had 3 mri s between oct of 08 and feb of 09. doc said everything was ok but i was in so much pain. feb 4th of 09 doc said dont come back for 10 mths. but i knew somthing was wrong with me.so i tried to get in to see another back doctor buts its hard to find one if you already had back sugery, but i finally found one by this time i had been layed off work because i couldnt return to work the condition i was in wouldnt allow me. so april of 09 seen 2nd back doctor. he put me to sleep poked needles in back to check disc above and below fusion said they were fine. put me to sleep to do injections didnt work went to therphy didnt help. so he did exsploretory surgery and found the fusion did not take. and this was on may 28th of 09 june the 1st they did away with my cobra ins cause the company i worked for was up for renewel and i was high risk so i no longer have ins and i have to be seen on a charity bases . since sept of o8 ive had server back and leg pain every day is a struggle for me. about 2 weeks ago i started having neck pain and in the shoulders and arms hands hurt and go to sleep i had an mri done friday and the mri tech said she could tell me i had 2 bulging disc c4 c5 but the dodtor would have to discuse it with me so now im waiting till monday to see what they are going to say. pain, pain, pain is all i know and think of these days. and i know my 2nd fusion has not took in the lower back yet. i wear a bone stimulator 4 hours a day to increase the blood flow to the back.and when you go to the doc they treat you like your crazy and pain is all in your head or your not telling the truth but if they were having to walk in my shoes the very little i walk then they would feel differant about it all.

I had the same surgery and didn't experience the pain you describe. It WAS painful for a while, just not the pain you describe. I'm sure your doctor has an answering service if you are concerned about your symptoms. Don't be afraid to call. That's why the answering service is there in the first place. Better safe than sorry! Good luck.

I had the exact surgery in 10/09. So far I have not had any problems and I am back at work full time. Please let me know what the doc says this is when you go. I am hoping I never have any more problems but still worried.  Thanks

Hi,
I have not had surgery so I can't really offer you any advice other than to see your surgeon right away to determine if you have another problem that is contributing to your pain. It is possible to have some nerve damage occur during surgery so this may be something you want to have your doctor test for.
I hope your doing better very soon, keep us updated and if you have any other questions or concerns please let us know. We are here for you and will help all we can:)
