I too have used Lyrica (pregabalin) for chronic pain. While it was prescribed for one particular pain problem, as a side effect it has managed to reduce my neckpain and relax the otherwise ridiculously tight neck and upper shoulder muscles that stabilise the neck.

The effect didn't kick in strongly for me until I was using fairly high daily doses of 450--600mg/day. I have found that a single 300mg dose in the morning does the trick, usually. But I'll take "usually" given the disabling nature of neck pain. I have read the odd post elsewhere of others noticing this effect with Lyrica or one of the other drugs in the same category of anti-convulsants; Neurontin (gabapentin) and tegretol (carbamazepine). Some doctors are aware of the muscle relaxant effects, some aren't. For the record, I tried all the usual exercises and stretches for ages, without effect unfortunately.

Might be worth investigating some other possibilities too though, as the anti-convulsants do have a number of side effects (most fade within 3-6 weeks or thereabouts) and aren't without risk. Many people find these drugs make them too sleepy during the day.

Good luck,

I don't know much about supplements either (sorry) but I have a lot of issues and some in my neck like you. I agree with Tuck - talk to you pcp; you might need stronger meds or different meds. I have taken Lyrica for neurapathy and it helped a lot. I know a lot of people take neurotin which is similar. Good luck, I hope you find something that helps.

Hi

I'm sorry for all the painful symptoms you are experiencing. I am not familiar with herbal supplements. I have malabsorption syndrome and am required to take supplements due to it. These are ordered by my PCP.

I recommend you discuss this with you PCP. I''m sorry I cannot be of more assistance to you. Others will post that may have more information than I do. Good luck and take care, Tuck
