tramadol is wicked

This is day 4 of cold turkey fom tramadol. I still feel like death warmed over and seem to have ducks quacking in my ears along with electric impulses throughout my body. Is this normal?  Anyone else had these symptoms? Man o man for a " non narcotic " drug, this seems unreal! I had no idea that it would be this awful. I thought I could just quit them and try to manage my pain with tylenol and ice packs along with exercises. I thought if that didn't work, then less activity would have to. I have tennis and golfers elbow from doing graphic design, too much intense drawing with the mouse. I had surgery in 2004 for the tennis elbow, got norco for a year for the pain, then they switched me to this tramadol and hydro 5 mgs. I quit the hydro with no problem and figured that this tramadol would be a piece of cake since it's supposed to be a non narcotic drug.

My husband and I are on vacation. He works very hard and when vacation time comes, well lets say he really deserves it. I've been too sick to do anything for 3 days besides lay in bed and try to sleep. He didn't kow that I had planned to quit taking tramadol and is quite angry that I have messed up our vacation. I just feel awful and highly emotional because I've ruined his rest. I could take the drug and feel better I know, but I think I would rather tough it out and be off this awful stuff forever! Any advice would be helpful and please wish me luck.

Tramodol is classified as a non narcotic but I have heard stories of the horror and pain coming off these pills. You should search it here at med help. There have been alot of people detoxing from them and say it is harder than heroin, methadone and other strong narcotics to come off of. I definitely don't want to scare anyone, it is just that I have seen alot of post saying the same thing. She did visit the addiction forum and they know more about this kind of thing, but as I told her she still has pain issues to deal with so maybe we can all help her in that regard.
Thanks*

I would wonder if you didn't have something else going on that might be causing your symptoms.  From what I have ever been told about that drug it in and of itself shouldn't cause you that much of a problem I wouldn't think.  I would say to to check out the addiction community as well but if it were me I would be afraid something else besides just stopping a non narcotic drug might be causing my symptoms.  I hope you feel better!!

You may want to ween yourself off of it or atleast try to trake something else. The onlyu way my pain everstoped after 5 years of carple tunnle was with GOD...I prayed becasue I could not take the pain anymore. A couple of days later I woke up and the pain was gone! POOF. Only GOD can do that after pills and surgery and therapy did not work. I have pains everyonce and a wile when I over do it, but nothing like I used to every day! I am now working on the PC again which started the whole thing...I will pray for you and you might want to too. Do not give up an be strong!

I have heard some very bad things about this drug. I take it sometimes but do not take it regularly as I take other meds. Have you tried our addiction community. I know the CL over there avsig has withdrew from this medication and can probably help you a lot more than I can. Stop over and see if she can offer you some advice. I know there are things you can do such as the Thomas recipe. They have all the info there.
I hope your feeling better very soon!
