Hi well I was on Tramadol for a month and when I went off of it (I was on the lowest dose and only once a day) I got withdrawal symptoms for 5 days. I was on it twice a day to start with but then I got insomnia so I had to take it only in the morning. I also started getting shortness of breath after 3 weeks or so. The withdrawal was general feeling of feeling ill, my hands shook but not terrible, headache, more back pain for one day, and so forth. I think it you have bad pain it is worth it but then you will just feel crummy for about 5 days. If you are asking how soon will it get out of your system for urine testing I don't know. If I had to do it over I would take it again and go through the withdrawal. So, I hope this helps.

Each individual dose can take approximately eight hours to go through the system.  I'm not sure about how long after that that the residual takes to leave the body, but I do know that I'm allergic to this one myself.  My own experience was that my entire body would itch during the entire eight hours that the drug was supposed to be active for pain.  There were other nasty side effects, too, like bad nausea and extreme sedation.  Some say the nausea and sedation calm down after a while with the use of the medication, but I found that to be the opposite in my case.  I'm sure there must be traces in the body for a while after the eight hours, but I'm not sure for how long.  All I know is that my doctor hates this medication because it can be addictive and the side effects are generally not worth it because it isn't really all that effective on pain.  I found that she is correct about that, too.  And, I keep reading about how people who did find it effective for pain for a short time found that it wasn't really effective for pain after a while.
