unexplainable leg pains wont go away

I have been experiencing extreme leg pains for a little over a year now.  I don't have health insurance, so I have been unable to get it treated or diagnosed.  I take 5 tylonel with codeine pills everyday, but only once a day, and it takes the pain away for most of the day.  I know 5 at a time seems like a lot for one dose, but thats what works for me, and it is just once day.  The pain I feel if I don't take the medicine is very strong and hard to describe.  It feels like an inner pain running along the front of my lower right leg, sometimes down my left leg as well.  I sometimes feel a burning feeling, other times a pins and needles feeling, and when I feel the pain my leg gets very weak.  When i take the medicine i am able to function normally.  So my question is this: first off does anyone have any suggestions as to what it might be, and secondly should i begin to assume that it is permanent, or is there still a good chance that medical treatment can fix this problem given that I have not gotten a diagnosis from any type of specialist?  By the way,  the pain comes about unexpectedly and without any real reason.  No injuries, unless its something that i am unaware of.  I was lifting weights pretty heavy at the time the pain started surfacing.  Thanks in advance

Hi Ellie, I just found your post and I know it's old but I was wondering of you still suffer from this and have you found any answers? You describe me almost perfectly, except I also get these pains in my arms as well as legs. Wishing you the best!

Hi Ellie.

I'm so sorry that you're having so much leg pain. Please see your doctor about it, as it could be so many different things.

Can you start a new topic? If you do, then you're more likely to get responses. Go one page back from this one and push the yellow button that says "Post A Question." The thread that you responded to is a couple/few years old.

Hugs,

I get really bad leg pains, thats why im searching the internet.
I've never been doctors about it because ive never thought that they would understand because for me the pain is hard to describe. It just completely takes over my legs!
If i try describe it, i would say it is like an ACHE, DEEP INSIDE and ALL OVER my legs, that wont ease even with massaging or walking around. Its over bearing and extremely painfull. I may only get it in one leg, or both if im extremely unlucky.
Ive had this since i was little but my parents just thought maybe it would be a 'growing pain' but,, im not growing anymore.
Ive recently noticed that I get them if i have either walked around a lot or have exercised, the pain will come later on in the day though, normally at night.
When the pain comes, i HAVE to take pain killers otherwise it will not go away. I've tested it before, one thing i wouldnt do again. Didnt take pain killers i laid in my bed untill the morning, an hour before i had to get up it stopped. so it lasts at least 8+ hours.
If anyone feels they have the exact same thing as me, please comment!!
Thanks

my sister keeps getting unexplainable hip pains. it is so worrying because she is only 16 and seems to be in constant pain, she has had this for about 3 years now. she has had so many operations and tests to see what it is, but no doctor knows. sometimes the pain is bareable, but sometimes she is in agony and can't walk or go to school or anything. she takes pain killers everyday, but they don't help much. does anyone know what it could be? i thought it may be physcological? she has had arthograms, bone scans etc, and has tried physio therepy. the strange thing is sometimes we go out and shes fine dancing and having fun, and other times shes unable to anything, and i can't understand how it is so spontaneous and unexplainable. does anyone have any suggestions of how she can bare it, and should she try something else other than doctors advice and pain killers?
please help!!

I for one...worry about you taking 5 pills at one time.  That is ALOT of medication in one hit.  Why aren't you spreading the doses out over the day?  I would be passed out and on the floor if I took that many Tylenol w/Codiene at one time.

I have Multiple Sclerosis which in my case, causes severe, chronic pain in my legs due to a scarring lesion in my spinal cord.  Pain ranging from spasms, burning sensations, sharp to aching, to pins and needles..  I take Hydrocodone (10/500) everyday and sometimes have to resort to Oxycodone to get some relief.

Of course, your leg pain should be diagnosed by a physician.  There are so many causes for leg pain, with one of them being circulation problems.

Again, I express concern, as a person that cares...for the way you dose yourself up everyday with your Tylenol.  Does your doctor know about this?  Maybe he can come up with something else to give you relief over a 24 hour period, that is something constant, so it does not flare up where you have to take a large dose at one time to get relief.

Good luck to you, Heather

I have these same pains in my legs. Mine is hurting right now, as I am writing this. I dont know what is wrong with it, I get them all the time. The only thing that I can really think of is that it might be hereditary (for me) because my grandmother, and both of my aunts on my mothers side have a leg disease. I can't remember what it's called, but one of my aunts has it so bad that it turned her legs a deep maroon, and it cuts off the circulation to her legs, so she has to wear these special socks to keep her legs from losing circulation.
I dont know what it is, but I hope that maybe one day I will. I get them very spontaneously. This is the first time in a long time that they have hurt, but it's an excruciating pain.
