pancreatic cancer

I have a question concerning my father, he has been jaundiced for the past 3 weeks,has abdominal pain-which has subsided somewhat,dark urin and light coloured stool, bloated & itchy stomach. He lives in England and they seem to be taking a lot of time diagnosing his condition, at first we thought maybe gallstones but now they have said his pancreas is swollen and they need to do a rectal endoscope?Has anyone an idea where this could be leading to as we are all really worried. He is a non-smoker by the way and "healthy".I would be grateful for any response.

Hello, How old is your father? My grandmother when she was 75 was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. For over a year they dismissed her. Currently I am going through the same thing with my mom, she has had some symptoms and it is worrisome. If I were you, put your foot down, and chase after answers. First of all there are a number of blood labs you should have order, most covered by insurance and simple. For one  CBC, which looks at the white blood count. When my grandmothers dr did one it was highly elevated. Also AFP blood test which detects things in the GI track. CA 19.9 for the pancreas, CEA marker test are good places to start to help ease the thought of cancer. Jaundice many times does not have to do with the pancreas and cancer, typically the jaundice sets in as it spreads? Have they checked his liver and kidneys as well. Does he have diarrhea? I would suggest doing a colonscopy and endoscopy. They will then be able to look at his pancreas and other organs for tumors. Also, have them do a CT scan with die, it will light up the areas and show any tumors and such. I am sending my mother through the same thing. She is 55 and healthy, it doesnt matter who it, cancer, especially pancreatic is sneaky. I am not trying to worry you, but assume the worst, chase after answers, and demand every test... it may save his life. In the end it may be nothing, just pancreatitus (pancreatitis) demand demand demand answers and test NOW. there are test designed to diagnose people and people need to demand them.
