Child poops in pants 7yr old

I've been to countless doctors and they all tell me the same thing, "your child needs to learn how to use bathroom on his own without holding it". My kid was always afraid of the pain he would encounter when he pooped. He still has issues but its a little better now that I've changed his eating habits. I make shakes that have high fiber vege's and put a lot of fruit to disguise it. Now he gets diarrhea so I dont give him as much or daily. He sits on toilet but he has a stood and that helps also. He has accidents but WAY less. Dr said to have him sit on toilet 5-6x a day even if he doesn't have to go. Dr. his colon needs to shrink back to size since he waa always constipated it got enlarged. Next step is blood work to check for Chrones, diverticulitis and other diseases. Hes little but you never know. I was always embarrassed, not by him but for him. We don't punish hom because he doesnt do it on purpose and many times he doesnt know he pooped until he smells or feels it. Sad, hes a straight A student, great kid and he's going through this unfortunate thing. I use to yell and punish him, but I soon realized it wasn't his fault and he honestly didn't do it on purpose. I thought I was alone but reading everyone's post helped me realize Im the the only parent who is going throigh this with my child. Good luck everyone, don't give up, we will find ways to help our kids.

Mamitalove,  it sounds like he's been diagnosed with encopresis,  stretching of the colon due to a history of constipation.

Keep up with the high fiber effort and ask your doctor for advice on that - whether metamucil,  bran fiber sprinkled on morning cereal,  etc.

He has to evacuate his colon daily to get it to shrink back and once again be able to control his bowels.

Best wishes.

I can relate to this. My son used to poop in his underwear when he was 4 to 5 years old. He was so hooked in watching TV then that he did not want to miss anything by going to the bathroom. He was bathroom trained since he was two and I was frustrated then because when he got older, that's when the time he poop on his underwear. We kept on telling him to go to the bathroom or tell us or the babysitter that he needs to go but he persisted. In fact, he also had an accident once at school. But eventually he grew out of it on his own.

I think it's just a phase in the child's development that some parents have to deal with.
