Focusing problems

My daughter is 7 years old and is having problems focusing in school.  The teacher states that she often (just today 3 times) turns in work with entire sections missing.  At times she writes her 5 and 7 backwards.  In the past she would write her b and d backwards or 6 and 9.  Never would she write more than 2 numbers or letters backwards at the same time.  Once she corrects the backward numbers or letters time passes without problems and then another 2 numbers or letters are being written backwards.  This is seen more frequently when the assignments are timed.  She is considered a very bright child and one of the classes top readers by her teachers.  All teachers this year tell me she is a delightful-witty, creative but willful.  Her grades are very good but are beginning to be affected by her lack of focus and organization.  She is able to focus for long periods of time when playing with video games or in her chess club.  At school friends are a high priority.  Kelly loves to talk, play and socialize and at times this is the reason for the lack of focus but not always.  What do you think is causing the lack of focus and organization?  Does she exhibit symptoms of dyslexia?  Any suggestions?

Hi! My son's teacher is also stating that he has a problem focusing in class.  My son is in 3rd Grade and am worried that it will affect him academically.
The teacher also says that he does not follow instructions sometimes.  Should I consult a specialist for him?

School-age children development friends are a high priority.  sasha loves to talk, play and socialize and at times this is the reason for the lack of focus but not always.  What do you think is causing the lack of focus and organization?  Does she exhibit symptoms of dyslexiaDevelopmental reading disorder?  Any suggestions?

Many children reverse letters and numbers up to the end of Grade 2.  This is considered normal.  At this point in time, she does not exhibit symptoms of dyslexia.  I expect she reverses numbers when under stress and does not have the time to "think" about it.  As for the entire sections missing - ask her - perhaps she doesn't understand the sections, or someone else has turned in the work and she thinks she should too, or she doesn't want to do those parts.  She is only in Grade 2 and I wonder if too much is expected from her at this early age.   Maybe a teacher of primary classes could better address this question but I really think there is no problem here.  Oh, in case you are wondering, I am a retired teacher, although experienced in intermediate and senior divisions.
