Inappropriate Touching

My son is 9 and the last 2 years has been inappropriately touching other children from time to time at school. The school has made a major issue of it. He is always very sorry and distressed when we discuss it and we have explained to him that it is wrong. Even when they tell him at school he says the same thing and eventually it happens again. The school want him to see a Psychiatrist. I am not happy about this and feel that it could have a detrimental affect on him and make matters worse. He doesn't seem to understand that it is wrong and doesn't know why he does it. Overall he is a happy child.

Does anyone have experience of this and can advise me what to do.

What does the inappropate touching consist of is it sexual or is he a hugger and a kisser?I agree with you regarding the school saying he should see a psychiatrist, perhaps you would tell me more about the inappropiate touchiing
