My 8yr old Daughter and her Mood Swings!

My 8yr old daughter refuses to wipe when she goes to the bathroom , she is constantly grumpy and with a very bad attitude, she likes to do things at her own pace and gives a roll of the eyes or a foot stump when sent to do something. I have tried all my techniques as I did before but nothing works anymore! HELP ME! Do I take her to a psychiatrist? Are there more questions that I should ask that maybe I don't? We are open to talk about anything and she never lies about anything her mouth is pretty much filter free but this on going bad attitude concerns me. my husband of 3 years who is her step father doesn't think she needs therapy we are from different cultures and so he is more hardcore when it comes to punishing but I just cant always agree that's the best way to go.. I need some advice!

May I ask how you know she doesn't wipe , maybe if it was left alone she would do so .I think there is too much focus on punishment here, maybe focus on her positive side and praise her when she does something right, get her step dad to do the same ..Children do respond to kindness , maybe have some fun, by the way they all pout about this age I doubt she needs a psychiatrist for what you have described ....

I'm interested in your comment that your husband doesn't think she needs therapy,  he is hardcore when it comes to punishing.

Is he too harsh on her,  so that she's become defiant and angry?   I'm really concerned that he's got that disapproving stepdad thing going on and is being too harsh on her,  and she's now shutting down.
