grandson age 7 throws tantrums when sent to summer camp

Grandson age 7 throws tantrums when sent to summer camp-any summer camp.  Says he has no friends there and doesn't like it.  Not true as one camp his friend was there and he still cried and whined until his mother had to come pick him up.  She has a job and school will start soon.  Why do you think this is happening and what can she do?

I agree with Annie.  She's sending him away so someone else will take care of him.

Some kids like summer camp,  some kids like to be in their own homes.  I always feel so sad for the kids who want a summer in their home,  with freedom,  but their parents send them away.  He doesn't want to go.  This is his childhood.  He should have the freedom to be home.

Then she cant do anything and he will go and get used to it ..his mom cant make him like it if he does'nt

He has to go to camp because both of his parents work.  His mother works parttime and is with him a lot.  Everything she does she does for him and his sister.

Does he have to go to camp when it is his time away from school ...he may feel he could use a routine away from school/camp ..it too much, parents could try to make the routines fit around the child .I know its not easy but children are important ....

He probably feels that she is sending him away because she doesn't want to be with him.
