I agree, I had a father who yelled a lot but was never physicaly abusive but he scared me a lot , always.. even when I was an adult I could not talk to him because he simply wanted me to hear him and he wanted to yell it out. Many moons later I have realised it was his way of speaking having always been in an authoritive position in life, it didnt help me . He died with me still afraid of him...

HOW MUCH CAN IT HURT HIM? a little or a lot- or none at all- but

loud that makes anyone nervous has a potential to be harmful. My husband has a BIG voice, and would make a stranger nervous until they get used to him. He talks a lot also and that makes people nervous sometimes too- HEHE
so it's all about the motive behind the BIG voice- controlled yelling by a father even  as intimidation, might be useful for a 15 year old son that is standing in the kitchen cursing out his own sweet mother, as in "HOW DARE YOU talk to your mother that way?"

If you are worried about it - it sounds like you need some support to help you and your own emotions with this man- we are here to support you/ if you want to talk more write me a note-
