Why do both of my boys 7 and 3 preffer to stay and be with mom? They both cry when I pick them up from work.I spent long hours at my job...single parent... could that be it?

I agree with jdtm,  and want to add that your mother is their main caretaker.  This is a good thing,  that they're bonded to her and don't want to leave.  Especially the 3 year old who is with her all day,  he has  a loving mother figure.  It's such a blessing that while you work long hours away from home,  your children have grandma they can bond with.

There are children who are in cold daycares all day long,  they have no one to bond with.  Your boys are blessed with your mother.

As hard as this is for you,  it's a blessing to your boys that they have a precious bond.

BTW,  mothers often fire nannies for this bonding issue.  Mothers get angry that their children bond with nannies when the mother doesn't spend time with the kids.  Please don't be upset or withdraw your kids from your mother - she is loving your kids.  You aren't there,  she is,  and she is raising your boys with love.

This must be a little hard,  I know,  that they're bonded with your mother and not you,  but what a gift your mom is giving them.  Please don't get jealous.  Your children need this.

No, more likely they are tired and you are tired.  Grandma's home is comfortable.  And, some children have trouble with transitions.  Could your mother begin about an hour before you arrive and say "Well, your mother should be here in about an hour"  and then "Well, your mother should be here in about half an hour, after all it is getting darker outside" or something similar.  The children can pack up their toys about 15 minutes before you arrive (of course, you will need to ALWAYS be on time).  She can help the transition for the children and for you.  All the best ....
