my thrid grader is won't complete her school wrk

My daughter is 8yrs. old she is now in the the thrid grade. Here lately she is having a hard time completeing her work in school. From what the teacher is saying she is daydreaming and just wasting time playing in her desk. I have talk to her and even put her on punishment from the things she enjoys doing in her freetime. Well she has been on punishment for about a month now and still no change. As a parent what is something else i can do to motivate her to do her school work.

Sounds like a lot of punishment to me maybe focus on her positive side and praise her when you see her doing something good ...

My son is the same way and also in grade 3. We took him for a behavioral assessment. It was discovered that he tunes out or starts making trouble when he doesn't understand the lesson or when he is overwhelmed by the lesson. Once they told us - everything else made sense.
