my 13 year old son was diagnosed with juvnille diabetes

Hello my 13 year old son was diagnosed with juvenile diabetes at 10 and he is very angry about it and has become very defiant. he is lying about taking his medication and wont let me give it to him. he has become very aggressive we have him in therapy. He has become withdrawn and is embarrassed by have diabetes what do i do?

Getting him in therapy was a great start!  I think this happens when they reach a certain age and begin to think more independently.  My son has a chronic condition and this was much easier a year and half ago.  I now find him angry and irrational.  I think we are going to have to let therapy work for a little while and I think the dr. (endo) will have to help also.  Have they thought about a pump for him?
