my daughter(12) has been itching her arm nonstop. i dont know what to do!

my daughter has anxiety issues and she is very emotional sometimes she will start to cry because of nothing. when she was10 for 2 months she would itch her arm when she was sad bored or anxious and it started again on her 11th birthday. she will itch it without realizing and its gotten pale all around where she has itched. she has dug into her skin and her middle of her arm is know pink. she has no allergies. she is now only wearing long shirts or wearing jackets so she can cover the rash/pink/skin not only so she cant itch it but because she is afraid someone at her school will be grossed out by it. HELP?

This sounds similar to teens that pull hair due to anxiety. Seeing a therapist can really help her work on ways to deal with anxiety differently before this behavior becomes even more ingrained and difficult to change. These behaviors aren't terribly uncommon. Some people bite their nails until they bleed. Earlier treatment is better, and it sounds like anxiety management would really help her. :)
