sleep

Our 12 year old cannont sleep in her room, she must sleep in our room on a mattress next to us.  The thought of her sleeping in her room terrifies her.  I have spoken to her and asked what has happened, I think the older child saying she heard footsteps outside her window, which there wasnt, but I think this has scared her.  Apart from talking her through it, having quite music, lavender burning, a night light, she still cannon sleep in her own room.  This has been going on for over 6 months and as you can imagine is affecting me and my husbands private time!  Please help!

Did you say there is an older sister? if you meant that why would an older sister try to frighten her younger sibling,? you say there werent any footsteps, so (if I am getting this right) the older child made it up. Perhaps a good idea to address the dynamics here maybe she is afraid of the things the other sister is saying. Is there any way that the child who sleeps in your room could have a room of her own?Could you explain further as I am confused regarding this , it would be bset to sort the other older childs problem out in her behavior,

I think both of you should tell him, that he need to sleep in his own room so that he can have his own space. And I think if you don't allowing him to sleep in your room again is the best way to train your son to sleep in his room.
