teen son will not talk

My teen son will not talk to me about anything.  Good or Bad.  I try to help when i notice he is struggling with something but he refuses to talk about it.  What should i do?

Much of this behavior is relatively normal for a teen.  Parents become less important and peers become more important.  They tend not to rely so much on parental advise and rely more on their own abilities to solve problems.  This is actually a good thing and not bad.

I would only intervene if you feel that he is troubled to the point of affecting him socially, emotionally, or academically.  Other than that, I would just let him know that you are there to listen and to help him.  But it isn't a bad thing to allow him the latitude to make decisions on his own, whether they are right or wrong.  This comes with growing up and becoming an adult.
