i would stop the vitamin and get him comfortable again before giving him anything but food and beverages. (he is probably cranky cause he's tired and hungry) he could be allergic to the vitamin. try another vitamin if its important he get a vitamin. perhaps its the dye in the vitamin since its tinted his stomach contents, just a thought. but if this persists you should really take him to the doctor.
hope he is feeling better soon.

I think that whether it is the vitamin or not, the child should see the doctor.  That is too much throwing up, and a vitamin is not going to give a child a cough, even if he or she gets queasy from the vitamin.

I've also never heard that Vitamin C makes people sick.  Sometimes people get queasy on various B vitamins, but not C as far as I know.

See the doc, something else might be going on and the vitamin is simply coloring the vomit (that comes from a different issue).

Hi,
It seems like you need to stop the extra vitamin C, he has symptoms of a vitamin C overdose. Plus, there isn't any scientific evidence that vitamin C boosts the immune system and if given too much it can actually suppress it, for which there IS evidence.

It would probably be a good idea to take the kid to a dr just to make sure there isn't anything else going on. My kids' pediatrician actually told us not to give our kids vitamins, that they should be getting everything they need from their diet (idealistic given that a 1 and 3 year old often eat nothing more than air, but we try). There aren't enough studies done on children that prove they are useful in kids, but that we know the vitamins and minerals in their food are absorbed. My kids are in daycare and get sick a lot too. It's a huge hassle and I feel bad for them, but it's better than cleaning up puke regularly if you don't have to. Good luck!

BTW, I found this on the LiveStrong website:

"The Food and Nutrition Board at the Institute of Medicine sets recommendations for vitamins and minerals. Children ages 1 to 3 years need 15 mg daily.

Vitamin C Complications
An overdose of vitamin C can cause complications that, for the most part, may make your child feel unwell and uncomfortable, but will not put him in serious harm. Overdose side effects include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, heartburn, abdominal cramps, headache and insomnia. A vitamin C overdose can also cause kidney stones. More likely are side effects of a vitamin C deficiency, which include a weakened immune system, slow wound healing, easy bruising, dry skin and hair, nosebleeds and bleeding and inflamed gums."
