13 mo. old, lips, hands and feet are dark purple,

My 13 month old grand daughter has dark purple lips, hands and feet with like red blotches. They are warm to touch. She was taken to emergency room today and no one had a clue what could be wrong. She has had watery diarrihea, but, is not really irritable. We have been pushing fluids and she's not dehydrated. The doctor said he would refer her to doctor in Madison, Wisconsin, as they are specialists in rheumatalogy there.Have no clue what to expect.
My children and I have blotchy skin, like, appears poor circulation in legs, she does too. But, I have never seen anything quite like this.
The doctor at emergency room (Rockford Memorial),talked with her doctor and she said that she was going to do further tests. But, she never said that to me.
Any one have a clue? I'm very concerned.

my daughter is almost a year, and she been getting purple hands and feet since birth. i asked the dr about it and she said it was fine. a couple months ago her lips started going purple and her legs aswell. i asked the same dr again and she wasnt sure why it would be like that, and referred me to a pediatrician. id see your doctor. i was looking it up online and i found multiple sites saying that dependin on where the lips are purple it could be completely innocent, but it could be a sign of a heart defect also. im worried too, and i would get your granddaughter checked out. im sure both of our children are fine, but better to be safe.
