My sisters daughter used to have the same thing.  My sister also did exactly what you are doing.  She took her daughter to all sorts of specialists and no one had an answer for her.  She would spike a fever about every 4 weeks or so with no other symptoms.  She told me that they said there is a childhood disorder where some children will get unexplained fevers about every month or so during the first few years of their life.  My niece has now since outgrown this and she does not get sink very often anymore.  I know it is frustrating I remember my sister talking about it and telling me how frustrated she was.  By the way my niece is 6 almost 7 now and the fevers stopped about 2-3 years ago.  I hope this information helps you.

Look up Pfapa Syndrome.  I think it is what Kaylee55 was referring to.  It was suggested to me as a possibility for my 14 month old son who has been experiencing fevers.  Unfortunately this disease doesn't quite fit the bill for my son, as he does have other viral-like symptoms.  But it sounds like it might for yours.  Good luck.

Please take children to pediatric urologist.  My daughter had very high reoccuring fevers.  All bood tests, urine, and stool were negative.  Finally we saw a pediatric urologist who siad she may have urine reflux.  My daughter never had a positive urine.  Sure enough she has stage three urine reflux and abnormal kidney ultrasound and will have surgery soon.  Some children do outgrow this condition but it is important to get it checked out because it can cause kidney damage.  Do not give up.  It is not normal for children to have reoccuring fevers.

Mommy4453: did your daughter have any other symptoms? My son has had a low grade fever fever EVERY DAY for 1 1/2 yrs (since 4m of age) and spikes every month to 105 for 3-4 days. Urine test is always fine. Blood work shows very high white count but no cause found. We have seen an Infect. Disease dr at Johns Hopkins and they have found nothing. Currently looking into Pediatric Rhum. Arthritis but your post was interesting.

The only other possible symptom is his ezcema (eczema) flares badly when he has the high fever

My 2 year old has been in and out of hospitals since he was 1 month old. He has seen all kinds of specialists, but the urologist. He gets these fevers and in a matter of minutes its 105. He is very happy and out going and you wouldn't know he was sick. Bacteria did show up in his blood once and the doctors said it was a false test. I just feel like my son is being tortured. He has a routine the doctor must follow when checking him out. He has had RSV, other breathing concerns. The doctors can't figure why he is always so sick.

I am so glad i found this. I am going through the same thing with my 21 month old daughter. She has been having these recurrent fevers monthly, since she was about 6-7 months old. We were taking her to get checked with every fever, and we could never find a reason for her fevers. I gave up for a while, and just treated the fevers as the occured. Recently her fevers are becoming worst. Now she won't eat during the fever, and just wants to drink. She also had a rapid onset of severe diaper rash, looked like someone scald her bum. I took her back to the clinic, and she seen the travelling doctor. He suggested a TB test, but that came back negative. She had blood in her urine this time too, but no signs of infection. Maybe she does have kidney reflux? I think I am gonna request to see a Urologist, just to get her tested. She sees him again in a couple of days, and i am not gonna stop until i get some answers. She suffers through these episodes, and so do we as her parents to see her suffer like this.

My son also had reoccurring fevers once a month (like clock work) that would reach up to 106 for 3-4 days. This happened for about a year and a half and they stopped. He didn't have any other signs or symptoms of illness. The ONLY thing I could relate it to (MAYBE) because the doctors had NO answers for me and thought I was crazy... was that I was still nursing him! So, now I wonder... if... maybe it was my breast milk that was causing the fevers due to hormones that were shifting in my own body once monthly...? The fevers, if i remember right, occurred during ovulation which is right when a women has a surge of progesterone. So, even though my son is now 8 years old, I am a BSN-RN student and I'm very curious to find out if any of you mothers who are experiencing this same thing with your child, are still nursing? Because, breast milk changes over time. It is the perfect nutritional source for your baby because it changes to meet your babies needs at each stage of development from birth to age one. Extended nursing beyond age one???

I'm NOT talking about reoccurring fevers that happen randomly. I'm talking about once per month, every 4 weeks or so, an abnormally high fever occurring for 3-4 days in your child? Are you nursing?

Thank you everyone for your responses!

My 22 month old son has reoccuring fevers. They bagan at 7 months old and come on like clockwork every month  accept of this past summer. Once Sptember hit they came back.
After 3-4 days of a high fever that comes and goes with tylenol and really spikes at night he gets a rash of tiny reds bumbs.
The doctor says it is viral. Throat cultures looking for strept and scarlet fever come back negative and noone else in the home get sick; however, when i push for an antibiotic I truely believe it works because his rash goes away within 36 hours.
Against my own wishes :) I am still nursing. My husband says he believes that has something to do with it but has never said it from a hormonal aspect. Reading some of these really has me curious. Unfortunately, I do not know what my monthly schedule is due to the fact that I have the Mirena which has a direct affect on my hormone levels.
I notice that these posts are all fairly old but if anyone has any new information please share. We are on our way to a 'monthly' visit to his ped. today. :(
