4 yr old daughter with purple spots on skin

by Bmo311, Jan 29, 2009 03:01PM
My 4 yr old daughter has recently had some confusing rashes that have come and gone within a few days.  The most recent one produced about 5-7 purple colored spots under her right armpit and down her ribcage.  The other part of the rash was on her chest and upper back.  No itching, or pain associated with either rash.  She wasn't sick either.  The chest and back rash subsided in 2 days but the purple spots are fading gradually, just looking like little faint bruises.  A few weeks ago she had a high temp 104.5 and fever for a few days (no other syptoms (symptoms)).  The doc ran tests for flu, strep, and UTI, after the fever subsided she developed a rash on her trunk a day later.  They seemed to think it was a viral rash due to the recent illness and not to worry.  Today she had a small rash develop on her cheek but it went away in about an hour or so.  Other symptoms not sure if they have any relevance are seeing colored lines in her line of vision the other day (with eyes open and shut) and she seems to complain a lot of twisting her ankle?  Sounds strange but just putting those out there in case anyone has had similar things happen?
Does anyone know what these could be and if I should be taking her in to the doc even if the spots are disappearing?
Posting this on severals forums so sorry if you have read this as a duplicate.

My daughter has had similar symptoms and was diagnosised with Henoch-Schonlein purpura.  Her spots were appeared on her bottom and then came joint and abdominal pain so bad that she had to be hospitalized.  She has even had lasting kidney problems from the disease.
