by twsteachk, Nov 07, 2009 12:14AM
My son was just diagnosed with the flu. They said Influensa child flu. He has had headachs, no appitite, sleepy, high fever (100.5). He has these little bumps ALL Over him. Started under his arms and went on his sholders and is now heading down his leg. He is soo itchy and I just do not know what to do. doctor said that he will get better over time, and there is nothing I can do for him. There has to be something for him. He is 5 and 48lbs.

fifths disease is a viral infection. It presents like flu. You don't know you have it until a red, lacy rash appears all over your face, arms, legs and trunk. Usually the child looks like they have been slapped in the face. By the time the rash appears, the child is over the contagious stage and actually on to feeling better. Treat like flu. Rest, fluid. It will go away in a few days. And sometimes, the rash will look better after resting, only to get redder after the child has been active.
