Three year old has trouble focusing. Normal?

I've noticed that my son seems to tune me out. I have a hard time getting his attention so that he can hear my instructions. Story time has become very difficult because he's too busy talking and asking questions. He has tunnel vision and once he is focused on his own thoughts or activity, he seems unable to stop and hear what we are saying. Before I tell him something, I have to tell him several times to look at my eyes and use his ears to hear what I'm saying (on second thought, maybe this is just a common male trait, JUST KIDDING)! Once I have his attention, I say what I want him to hear. I asked his preschool teacher if she noticed this. She said that yes, over the past several months he has seemed very distracted.

I know that much of this has to do with being 3. However, I'm around other 3 year olds quite often and see a difference. While he's young and I don't want to label him, I do wonder if this could be ADD? Anyone have any insight on this? After talking to his teacher today, I'm going to try to give him one instruction at a time to follow. Then ask him to repeat it back to me to make sure he heard me. Maybe I can teach him to focus? It's been SO frustrating!!!

I hope I can help you I know nobody whats believe there child may have something wrong with them there are many forms of Autism mayde your son might have a touch of autisim or a form of it ask your doctor or peditrition about it i hope I didn't affend you Good luck
