I don't know about common but yes it definately can happen.

The good bacteria down there and bad lives in a very delicate balance.  A little shift and it's all thrown out of whack.  The constipation could be as simple as being dehydrated.  How much water does she drink in a day?  I mean plain water not juice.

I would get her in to see the ped.  maybe there is something going on - could be related or not but always worth the professional opinion.

My daugjhter would get very bad yeast infections when she was a baby.  All the time.  We were in and out all the time at the dr's office.  The best medicine invention was made vusion.  They give me samples because with insurance it is $80.  It clears them up with in a few hours.  Her ped told us that some people have more yeast in their bodies than normal.   Acidopolis(sp) is a good bacteria that helps fight yeast and keep our bodies in balance.  Back then I would break open the pills and pour it in her formula and that helped to control the yeast infections.  Also, yogurt has good natural live bacteria in it.  Make sure you buy the one that says live bacteria on it.  Good luck and it really does help to do all of this.
