entertaining himself

My 17month old had decided that I have to be within 3 feet of him at all times. Up until a few weeks ago he would happily play for an hour here and there so I could at least get the dishes done without screaming at me. I'm 27 weeks pregnant with number 2 and was wondering if anyone has any tips? I think he will need to be able to entertain him self when this next one comes along. Even.if.its just for half an hour while I'm feeding or something.
