watery eye/s due to teething

by marzks, Oct 15, 2009 03:49AM
Hi,

My 21 months old son has a watery/teary eye. There is no redness or any sign of infection and it is not bothering him in any way. He has this for the third time now. Last two times he had this it cleared up on its own and within a day. This time he has still got watery eye and it has been two days.He is teething on that side too. So i wanted to know can teething cause watery or teary eye/s at all? I have heard of teething with flu like symptoms but i am not sure about watery eye/s, so any help will be much appreciated.
Thanks

My daughter is 12 months old and I often notice her eyes are watery too.
She's also teething. She's got 5 teeth and working on her 6th.
Whenever she's poppin out a tooth I notice her eyes are often glossy and watery looking, she gets bouts of diahrea and is gassy. She gets snot nose and sometimes runs a low fever.
She gets sleepy alot resulting in fussy and crankyness.

The nerves in your face are all connected and pain can result in other parts of your face reacting to it.
I know when I got my nose peirced, or if I have my nose ring out for too long and go to put one back in, it makes my eye that's on the same side water really bad.
I have an right ear infection right now, and before I started my antibiotics, my ear infection was also making my teeth and gums on my right side hurt ALOT. And with my teeth hurting, caused me to have alot of headaches.

I'm sure what your son is going through is normal.
It happens to my daughter too and her ped. isn't worried about it.

thanks Riot_Queen for your comment. i have been hearing all kinds of things about watery eyes and tears being blocked and surgery to get rid of that, etc, etc. But i was also thinking it could not be something like that because if he really had something wrong with his eye tear ducts it would have been from birth because thats when their eyes are still developing. Hows your daughters eyes now? My sons eyes are all well now,it lasted for a week, got better each day and finally no tears in there. So lets see if it happens again when next tooth is popping up.
