what might be wrong with the child

find that his intelligence appears to be average for a 4-year-old and so, there no concerns about his cognitive skills. Still unsure about his delayed speech development and lack of appropriate social skills, you make some recommendations to the parents.

Google sensory integration disorder.  Speech is often affected with a sensory kid due to motor planning issues.  Social skills are almost always an issue with a sensory kid.

Also, just a plain speech delay can result in social issues with peers as that lack of communication can hinder usual play.

Look up sensory integration disorder and if it fits, I have many suggestions for you.  But certainly, a speech evaluation should be recommended.  If it is a first born child, parents might not be aware that speech is behind other kids of the same age.  good luck
