Hot/Cold sweats with PD??

by mommyofKassandCora, Mar 18, 2008 04:19PM
Hi.. My stepfather has had PD for about 15 yrs.  He is in a nursing home and I wonder if anyone has experience or knows about having hot/cold sweats with PD?  It really makes him uncomfortable and nothing seems to help..is this a normal symptom?  Thanks!

Hey Girl, Its me again. I don't remember my dad having that problem, with the hot/cold situation. When he was at the very end, he would get cold. But he had lost so much weight then, he didn't have any body fat at all. Check with his doctors to see if it maybe his meds.? He doesn't have a fever does he? Over all how has he been doing? I think about him alot, and hope he is doing well. Send me a note girly.

Hi.. I was hoping you would answer this!  How are you?  He is doing ok other than this problem.. he went to the ER yesterday b/c he just can't stand himself when he is hot/cold.  NO, fever, blood is fine..  said there is nothing they can do for it.. that's also what his Dr. said.
It comes and goes so I guess it is related to PD and not the meds. It's aggravating!  Nut we will ask the Doc if it is the meds.
Thanks:)

I wish I could help you. I just don't know about this problem tho. When he does get cold make sure you cover him with a very soft blanket, like velvet. There skin gets so sensitive. It actually hurts them. The velvet blanket feels good to their skin. And he should probably lay on a velvet blanket too. I did that for dad and he said it really helped him. Wish I knew more to help him. Let him know he has friends he will never meet, but they are praying for him,o.k..

Being very hot and sweating until your hair and clothes are wet is a symptom of Parkinson. It comes and goes. It is very uncomfortable.
