Heat and Congential Heart Disease

by jarmel, Aug 19, 2009 11:00PM
Hi...
My son was is 9 years old, was born with pulmonary atresia with intact ventricular septum and a VSD.  He had open heart surgery at 5 days old.  His valve was opened, and his VSD has closed.  Currently he is doing quite well.  He does have some pulmonary regurg.  He will need a pulmonary valve replacement when he is older.

My question is...I am in atlantic canada..heat has been bad.  He is in bed right now...he just finished getting sick to his stomach.  I know the heat is definately a factor right now.  When do you say..time to go to the hospital...I keep checking on him.  He hasn't gotten sick to his stomach for the last 15 mins..but I am worried about him.
He is in bed, right now with a wet, cold towel next to his sto?mach.  Just worried...and wondering.....what has other parents done in the past to combat the heat. with heart kids
