I took my daughter to urgent care on Thursday, they gave her antibotics for her congestion, her lungs sounded raspy.
Then the doctor said he believes he has mitralMitral regurgitation - chronic Mitral stenosis Mitral valve prolapse valve prolaspe. Why was this never picked up before. Once I took her because she had pain, I wanted a chest xray and the doctor said he didn't hear anything in her lungs and advised against it. But what was the pain. With this last sickness she was short of breathBreath alcohol test Breath holding spell Breath odor.
I am going to follow up with heart doctor. How scared should I be???? Please advice.
Nan
Based on what you have written here, it doesn't sound like anything serious, so try and settle yourself down. Most children, far and away, have chest pain occasionally and it is more times than not, muscle related. Heart disease severe enough to cause chest pain, would be very difficult to miss on exam. There are really only a few types of CHDCoronary heart disease that cause chest pain in children; they are rare and very serious. Those children generally do not have the 'normalNormal saline flush childhood' as far as their activities go; in other words you would know there was a problem. Those types of problems generally have a specific type of heart murmurHeart murmurs and other sounds as well. Your daughter, in this last illness was SOB based on her illness for which she was given an antibiotic. Even if they find MVP, many people have this problem and leadLead poisoning normal lives. See the pediatric cardiologist and have her given a complete work-up; hopefully, everything will work out fine for you. take care
