infant yawing

What does it mean when a 4 months old baby is non stop yawning (from birth and on) and sleep most of the day?

The reason people yawn is because the brain needs oxygen. I'm not saying your baby has this kind of a problem, but it's not really normal for a baby of 4 months (unless he has JUST turned 4 months) to be sleeping most of the day. He should be more active during the 4th month. See your pediatrician and have him recheck your baby.

its my friend's baby, she is yawning non stop from the moment she was born. she can sleep 10 hours ans still yawn. The pediatrician said she is ok and ignore the yawning. However, it is mind bathering to see a  4 months old yawning and sleeping all day.

Maybe your friend should get a second opinion?
