my three old son has been having chest pain he says it feels better when he is lying down and hurts really bad when he is sitting up.

Hello, true chest pain caused by heart disease does not alter based on movement. Have him seen by your pediatrician to see if the cause can be found. What you are describing is more than likely related to muscle or cartiledge issues.
