valve replacement
My 11 year old will be having a valve replacement (he had a repair for tetrology of fallot at 7months).  What will the recovery time be.  How long will he be in the hospital?  How long out of school?  Any information about any of this surgury will be helpful.  The waiting for all these questions to be answered is killing us.  Hollee

Hello and welcome to our site! Surgeries and how well a child recovers, for the most part, depends on the individual child and whether or not he has any other health issues that can be affected by going through the surgery. Have you simply just asked his cardiologist or the pediatric surgeon who will be doing his surgery? They are the best people to ask. If your son has already had one open heart surgery, you will probably find that it will basically be repeated in the time allowed for inhospital care as well as his recovery time. have they set a date for his surgery yet?
