Can Someone Please Help!??!

Im 18 and for the last 4 years ive had what my endocrinologist tells me is just a multi-cystic nodule ON my thyroid. They've done numerous tests to check my thyroid levels but they always come back totally normal in other words showing no abnormalities. ive also had 2 ultrasounds done prior to one that i just had done on Monday Feb. 4th, 2008 which i have not heard back from my doctor yet and i will be calling on Monday to ask why i havent been contacted.

The reason i need help is im trying to figure out if there are certain things that i should get tested for concerning my thyroid and the nodule that could help doctors understand this better and help me get aswers to how i can treat it and what ABSOLUTLY has to be done. Im trying to avoid surgery considering my age and some of the stuff that ive heard about what the hormone pills can do to a girl my ages system which is that they can sometimes screw up the natural hormone function sometimes resulting in sterility. With me being 18 and just about to start my future, i someday will get married and want to have children and if those are capable of making me sterile but i can wait til i get a family started then id want to wait!

Any information you can give me would be amazing!! Anything will be more than what i know right now!!!

The jury is still out in regards to treatment of a multicystic goiter in a patient with normal thyroid function, please post at the adult thyroid expert's forum for their opinion, at 18 I would recommend you see an adult endocrinologist, have your labs checked and they can consider further testing and follow you closely.
I am thinking if your labs are fine you will not need surgery as long as the ultrasound is fine and exam correlates. You can find an adult endo at AACE.org and click on find an endocrinologist and type in your zip code (that is if you live in the US)

Also, Im wondering if maybe i should get checked for Hashimoto's Thyroiditis? Ive read that thyroid levels in people with Hashimoto's doesnt always come back high or low but it can sometimes show up as normal levels.

I have never been tested for that or for Grave's and im wondering if i should??
