Down's syndrome

5 year old granddaughter  who initially was found to be slightly hypothyroid  at age 4.  Started on rx to treat then became slightly hyperthyroid.  Rx was stopped over 3 months ago but child has continued to become even more hyperthyroid  lab wise as well as clinical signs.  Your opinion please

Well hard to tell without the labs and seeing the patient, be sure that she is with a pediatric endocrinologist and have her parents sit down and obtain a clear idea of what is going on. I have a few patients with Down Syndrome who are hyperthyroid, ,and a bunch more hypothyroid. It is possible, both in the same child. They are prone to autoimmune diseases and thyroid disease is very common.
