Child born with vsd and now has chronic lung problems

Dear Doctor-My daughter was born with VSD that was discoverd at a two month check up- She was followed by a cardiologist for two years when they did an echo and said  her heart was closed but will always have a murmer more likely -Although this was great news ,She is now 61/2 years old and has always had chronic lung problems since before she was 1 yr. of age is there anyway possible that her heart caused her lung problems? Sara,is followed by an allergist and an e.n.t doctor (that has also diagnosed her with vcd) They have tested her for numerous diffent things that all come up negitive- There is no family history of asthma or lung issues.-She also is behind on her growth chart they did a bone age scan that said her body was measuring a year behind-My question is, Could her heart have had something to do with this?

If your daughter only had a small VSD and no other additional heart abnormalities, then she should not have lung problems as a result of her heart.  Additionally, she should have no growth or development issues due to a closed VSD with an otherwise normal heart.  If you still have concerns, please re-contact her pediatric cardiologist and they can decide if a re-evaluation is merited based on her past history.
