Heart Murmur/Stop Breathing

My  son's doctor told me not to let him scream becuase he heard a heart murmur. I asked why not let the baby cry because that helps his lungs, he said because it could make his heart blow up. I just want to know if this is true because my son goes to day care and they always are telling me that he screams all day long. Please help

Dear amburlee:  before you get too frantic, I think it would be advisable for you to contact the pediatric cardiologist who saw your son in the past.  Let them know you have an upcoming appointment for a recheck, but that you had concerns about the things your primary doctor told you.  Since your cardiologist has the old records, perhaps they can reassure or advise you.
