We have a daughter who just turned eight years old , she is being tested for early puberty, and we are awaiting her bone age scan and blood work to come back. She also has post traumatic stress disorder, anxiety and depression, that she is medicated for. Her pediatrician agrees with me that if she truly is going through early puberty then the combination of puberty hormones and her other current diagnosis will be too much for her little life to handle. Is the government doing anything to stop this?
I would definitely have her doctor take a look. There can be a normal estrogen surge around 2 years old that can cause breast bud at this age. Some children may have subtle dark hairs, this can be related to ethnicity and genetics (is mom or dad hairy?). With precocious puberty, the pubic hair is not subtle. I have been told by a pediatric endocrinologist that if you can count the hairs, it is not precocious puberty. In precocious puberty you will also see rapid vertical growth as seen in physiologic puberty. Hope this helps, but I would definitely get her looked at by her pediatrician if you are concerned.
