10 D.O. Newborn with direct bilirubin of 2.4 was 5.9 day one of birth, just had HIDA scan but only the liver lit up

by Vbyers6, Jul 07, 2008 07:54PM
Baby girl, 6lbs 7oz, 19 1/2 inches, not discharged from hospital yet. on day 1, the bilirubin was 5.9. On day 3 her creatine level was elevated but now it is normal.  now 10 day old with direct bilirubin of 2.4, Dr. says has to be below 1.0 before discharged.  HIDA scan was done today and the liver only absorbed the radioactive tracer.  what does this mean?...All other blood work is normal.  Her stool is regular, she eats normal, her skin is still a lil' yellow.   Newborn also had an xray of the knee today, what is this for?  Mother has grave's disease and baby's thyroid test came back negative. Please any advice would be helpful.

Thanks
