22 month old with strange rash!

My son has what appears to be a body-wide rash (like leopard spots) but more on his back. He had a slight fever a few days ago and was drooling more than usual so we attributed that to teething. The erruptions start as red splotches about a half-inch in diameter that last about a day and then produce a small, firm bump in the middle. I can't tell if the bumps have fluid in them. But the bumps seem to last about a week and then slowly recede and dry up. We thought they were bug bites or fleas from our dog. But his bedroom has been completely cleaned out, dog's taken care of and the rashes appear to have worstened. We're rulling out food allergies, detergents but the rashes persisit despite removal of these agents. My wife called our insurance's nurse and she directed us to use a pediatric dose of Benadryl. Any ideas?

I hope you have already seen a doctor. If not you need to see one right now. A doctor must see the rash to be able to tell you what it is. Be sure to include all of your childs symptoms when you tell the doctor what is going on. My shild had a rash that completely disrupted our lives. It lasted for almost a month. We still arent sure what it was but it's been gone for 2 years & never came back, thank God. Maybe your childs rash will also be a distant memory in the near future. Good Luck!
