4 month old spitting up constantly

Hi, I have a gorgeous daughter who will be 4 months on nov 6,2011 and she is always spitting up whether she has eaten 5 minutes ago or 4 hours ago. and she spits up every time i lay her down to sleep(she sleeps on her tummy with drs approval). I don't know what to do with this. I haven't started any solids yet. we tried some rice cereal on a spoon but she is still thrusting her tongue out at it so she isn't ready for solids. Any suggestions??

i really was wanting to hold off on the cereal and other solids until she is 6 months just because she is quite a tank now and i'm concerned that she'll put on weight more rapidly if we add different stuff to her diet

Thats good news a new home a new job ..yes if she is still spitting up a lot it could be the formula not suiting her,and soon you will be able to start the cereal which may help .

ya it is pretty ridiculous. i don't know how other states do it but that is the way WI is, we're moving to ND at the end of the month so we'll see if we even qualify out there since my husband is getting a different job with much better pay.

yes i'll let you know what the family dr says and no i haven't changed the formula because we are on wic and they need a drs note so if dr recommends it monday i'll have to have her get me a "permission slip"...it really ***** that you cant pick what formula your child receives just because you need to be on wic!!

Yes they can help ..gripe water has a peppermint flavoring and that does help with stomachs of infants , sometimes there is no rhyme or reason for the spitting up and by a certain age it seems to stop.Have you tried changing the formula it could be another may suit her better .If she is due for her check up ask what they think ..would you also let us know what he thinks ...

i will be definitely holding off on solids for now and she is formula fed unfortunately we had alot of latching issues in the beginning so i pumped and bottle fed for month then switched to good start gentle formula. i never lay her down right away i usually try to wait about 45min to an hour and we always are sure to burp her very well. would some gas drops maybe help her??

she is only spitting up, no fussing(unless she is hungry or tired) we have her four month check next monday so we'll see wat dr says. i never had this problem with my older daughter and it's driving me crazy. i do more laundry for baby than for my husband, first daughter, and i combined!!

It is a good idea to delay the solid food eating for a while most think 6 months is good to start it..but it does vary on Doctors opinions .Is she breast fed if she is sometimes its what you are eating that can upset a baby ..Could also be she needs to get up some more wind/gas so don't place her immediately down when she has fed ..more burps may be needed...Babies of this age very often get colic and it is uncomfortable for them but it does go away once they are eating well.

tell the doctor, it is more than likely reflux....get it under control...can cause problems later with middle ear issues.

It could be so many things. Some babies just spit up alot. It could be acid reflux or over eating. Does she cry alot or just spit up? I would talk to your doctor and see what they suggest. Good luck.
