5 month old with parasite

Hello
Our 5 month old daughter has diarrhea  for 3 weeks now, she's breastfed, there is an improvement and the amount went down (only 1 time yesterday, but today has been three). Culture shown a parasite - Blastocystis hominis, the doctor prescribed Flagyl, we still didn't gave her. Me & my husband will do a culture tomorrow also.
What should we do? She acts normal, gaining weight and Not dehydrated.
Thank you.

As your baby daughter is still having the diarrhea, you should give her the medication that the doctor has prescribed for her.

Flagyl (Metronizadole) is the drug of choice and is given to those who have gastrointestinal or dermatologic signs and symptoms and many cysts in stool specimens.

Make sure that everything is clean and washed thoroughly.  As all babies put things into their mouth, make sure that anything she touches is cleaned and washed too.  Always wash your hands after using the toilet and always wash your hands after touching animals.  Don't allow your baby to touch animals for hygienic reasons, but if she does, then make sure you wash her hands before she puts them into her mouth.

At the age of 5 months, she will be teething and putting anything into her mouth.

Make sure that your daughter is taking in plenty of liquids so as not to get dehydrated from the diarrhea.

Here is a reference.  Apparently although this parasite can be found in the human body, it is controversial whether it causes a disease, and whether it might clear up on its own.
