5 yr old with daily soiling

My son is bright, extroverted, articulate and full of energy.  At 5 1/2 he is having daily problems soiling his pants.  No wetting and never had night time problems.
One of his two households is generally disorganized and far from regimented. He is maturing and academically doing well in his kindergarten class but may have to repeat K in part because of some immaturity and his lack of bowel continence.
We've tried rewards, etc.....
Any ideas would be appreciated.

I assume he goes to school does he do the same thing there ? Does he get on well at school, have there been any recent additions to the family new sibling, anything happen to upset his routine , in either house hold .
