Baby & Formula Bottle (what could be going on?)

My 9 month old son has times when him and his formula bottle get along and then has times when him and his formula bottle don't get along and he gets red blotches on his face and sometimes chest. I take the formula bottle away and the red blotches go away. He has never really had a problem like this before when it came to his formula bottle. I'm wondering if it could be cause he's constipated, teething, if he's starting to get an allergic reaction to the formula (Gerber Good Start Gentle Plus), or if its the water (we use well water). Its fairly concerning since it does go away. I'm just wondering what could be causing this? Should I change his formula? Should I use bottled water? If its cause, he's constipated is there anything I can give him? And, if its teething which sounds weird to me is there anything I could do? Cause, I know at this age baby's are suppose to have 4 or 5 formula bottles during the day. We are on WIC, so if its an allergic reaction to the formula would WIC change it for us or would we have to buy it? Should I call the doctor?

He's good when it comes to his baby food. He's good when it comes to juice bottles. He's good when it comes to the sippie cup (I usually put 7up with some water in that).

Then just use the sippy cup he is going off the bottle , put the milk into his cup, maybe it was something in the water then if he is doing better ,he is getting to the age where you can start finger foods.it should get easier .good luck

when it happens the blotches are usually both but in different spots. he eats the beech-nut baby foods and has some of the food we have that the doctor said is okay for him to have. we been buying water at the store now and that seems to be making a difference. the only thing is he doesn't really seem to want a formula bottle anymore. He only drinks some of it and then he doesn't want anything to do with it. he likes the juice and yogurt juice Gerber has, we give him those on occasion.

AnnieBrooke - thanks, were going to have to try that. cause, we make sure the bottles and nipples are sterilized well.

margypops - thanks, i'm going to have to do that as well if it continues.

when it does happen to him. it doesn't seem to bother him. he's his normal self. if it was an allergy would it bother him?

He may also be allergic to the material the nipple is made of  it does sound like an allergy .. ask the Doctor .

We are on well water too, and I always made his bottles with water that had been boiled for several minutes and then cooled.  There might be something in the well water that appears only sporadically.  The other thing would be to use distilled water (available at the grocery store in gallons) to make the bottles.  Finally, be sure you're sterilizing the bottles well.
