Baby Sore Throat and Cough

Baby Sore Throat and Cough

My baby is of 8.5 months. From 1 week he suffered with Cold or Flu (like running nose and itchy red eyes. Doctor gave him anti-allergic medicines and saline nasal drops. He diagnosed that he is infected with virus infection not bacterial and his nasal is blocked. We gave him his prescription for 1 week, then cough also started like barking but neither before nor now he has fever.

We took him again to same doctor an again he said continue previous prescription and said I cant give him anti-biotic because he is infected by virus not bacteria. He added one more medicine for cough. The following is his prescription:

1. Loratadine = 3/4 tsp (two times a day)
2. Saline Nasal Drops (2 drops in each nasal after every 6 hrs)
3. Terbutaline Sulphate = 3/4 tsp (3 times a day)

Kindly tell me, is it right prescription? Is there any need to give extra medicine for cough?

sinus problems can result from silent reflux--it can be hard to diagnose, but is actually fairly common.  my daughters ped said that children under 1 cannot have allergies, except from food.  you might want to try letting him sleep elevated, prop up one end of the crib 4-5 inchs.  if nothing else, itll help keep his sinuses drained.
