Breathing disorder in sleep

My son breaths really wierd in his sleep, it's kind of like he's gasping for air. He'll breath in alot really deap and then let it out really slow and hold his breath for a few seconds, but he also shakes in his sleep. and when he wakes up he's really weak and dizzy. i'm not sure if it is a concern but he wont go to a doctor.

I would be concerned. I think if you were to go to the doctors they would sign him up for a sleep study. Personally I would see how fast I could get him in,
