Bruising

My 2 year old son recently came back from his fathers house with a swollen leg, small bruises on his schin and a couple dark bruises on the back of his knee. I contacted C.P.S. but their father says he absolutely did nothing. What could have caused such an injury if it wasnt caused by someone physically hurting him?

oh I am sorry, what is the treatment for it, do they know what causes it ?

Thanks for understanding, I actually recently found out that my son has a skin disease and no one knows what causes it. Its called Henoch-Schonlein purpura. It is also what caused the bruising and swelling. It will go away in a week or two and it also causes arthritis like symptoms which would explain my son limping.

May I ask if his father takes any other children especially older ones out with him, does he have any baby sitters or anyone else around ? I think that seeing those kind of bruises would be a concern to me also .Especially as the child had a broken nose ,you do need some answers How long does your son spend with him , ?.

Thanks I appreciate your input, the hospital actually contacted C.P.S. I however told them that I did not think my ex was capable of anything like this, which is why I was wondering what could have caused it. My ex says he did not notice him falling or anything. Last time my son went with him he came back with a broken nose. I just want to get to the bottom of things.

Little children can damage themselves in unusual ways. By contacting Child Protective Services, you have essentially made a criminal allegation against your (ex, presumably) husband.

You are making an assumption that somewhere in Child Protective Services there is someone who will "look at the situation objectively".

You may end up with your child removed from both your care and the care of your husband.

I am NOT stating that you are wrong to be concerned.

Getting involved with Child Protective Services can be a no-win situation for both parents. Nothing you state to them is confidential, and you might be surprised to learn what your ex says about your fitness as a mother.

The kind of injuries you describe do not seem to me to be indicative of a beating. A single incident of this nature does not appear to warrant going to "general quarters".
