Confusional Arousals Treatment

Confusional Arousals Treatment

My 2 1/2 year old daughter has been diegnosed with Confusional Arousals.  She was given medication because her episodes are nightly and usually up to 4 times a night of screaming and fighting in her sleep.  She was given a low dose .125 of the medication.  I have not given it to her yet.  I do not feel comfortable giving my child a sleep medication that puts her into a deep sleep to sleep thru these episodes.  Is there any other treatment that can be done?  Also, if not what are the common syptons and how dangerous is the medication?  Thanks

waht is the medication? I would say NO do not give it to her!!!!! They have no long term studies on meds in chidlren and even though you did not put down waht the med was I am sure it is not safe. Children and teens have different reactions to meds. It can be damaging and effect things long term and probable jsut mask the disorder. Are you talking about night frights? My daughter had them and they went away. I was told to fully wake her up which was hard at times and hold her tight and calm her back to sleep. She might be having anxiety form something that is going on during the day or something has made her have nightmeres. I would let it pass and not give thed rugs. Do y ou even know how long it has been on the market and how long it has been used to treat that and how muchh it sis given to that age group and what studies found wher side common and uncommon side effects and how ong they monitored the children after it was given. Those are all things to check on! The first three years of life a child will learn 70% of what they will know in theri lifetime! You do not want to effect her brain or development in anyway!

I have a 2 and 3 year old and they have night terrors too.It started at about a year old for each of them.We have just started using L-theanine.There is one called relax-o-saurus.It is made for kids.It does seem to help a little.Unfortunately I dont think there is any cure for night terrors. Not sure if that is what you are talking about.
