Growth of teenager

by Gilit, Dec 17, 2008 03:31PM
My son is 13 years old and is 5'3". He had an early growth spurt and has not grown in the last 4-5 months. I am concernd that he is finished growing. His bone scan estimates that he should be  between 5'7 to 5'9. I took him for a consultation today. His bone age today is at 14 years old. The physician recommended ( depending on blood work) that we should start our son on Arimidex or Femara.
A year ago it was recommended by a different doctor to give him Lupron (not sure of the spelling) to delay his growth since his hormonal level was that of an adult(,approx. 230). I chose not to do this for various reasons, that seem erroneous to me now. I do feel I made a mistake.
Would love some common sense advice.and would love to see my son taller.
Thanks.

Why is it so important that he be taller? I really dont understand.  Boys dont stop growing until they are 19. Those Lupron shots are dangerous and if you only gave them for him to be taller I would agree that you made a mistake. I have had to take that drug in which it was need because i have estrogen dominance with stage IV endometriosis and it isnt something that i should have even taken in my circumstances.  Your son will grow and if he doesnt who cares.  You are going to make it harder for him to accept who he is and he may develop self esteem problems. So unless there is some severe underlying medical problem that can do something to his health I would urge you to let it go and not give him anymore injections of Lupron or any drug.  Find out WHY there is a hormone growth and at least seek advice from a naturalpath instead of these other doctors that just want to inject poison in us just to make money.  Sorry if I seem harsh but that drug is awful and so are the side effects.
